The SHIFT Project
It isn't easy to talk about sexual harassment. We can help shift the conversation to equip and empower employers and employees to prevent and address sexual harassment at work through training tailored to specific industries.
The goal of SHIFT is to address and prevent sexual harassment in Island workplaces through awareness, education and training that is tailored for employers, employees, high school students and the general public.
The SHIFT Team are truly grateful for the wonderful engagement throughout our community consultations about workplace sexual harassment in PEI, and the kind of resources and supports they have used and/supports they would like to see available on the Island.
THANK-YOU to all those who answered the 2025 SHIFT Project survey
THANK-YOU to all those who came out to our Shoebox Sessions in-person ~ by design or by accident
THANK-YOU to our PEI Provincial Libraries and the dedicated librarians in each community who made the Shift team feel so welcome and provided valuable local insights on the communities they serve.
And finally,
THANK-YOU to everyone who bravely shared their experiences of workplace sexual harassment with us at events, workshops and training sessions across the province. Whether experiencing sexual harassment at work firsthand, seeing it happen to another colleague, or hearing about the experiences of a loved one, it’s abundantly clear that workplace sexual harassment is still a taboo subject in many communities, and there is much work to be done!
Workplace Sexual Harassment: A Worker's Guide Video Series
Prefer to access your information in video format? Here are two video resources developed between Community Legal Information's RISE Program and the PEI Human Rights Commission's SHIFT Project.
· What Can I Do About Workplace Sexual Harassment? A Guide for Workers on PEI
· Bystander Intervention for Workplace Sexual Harassment: A Guide for Workers on PEI
These animated videos give some examples of what sexual harassment in the workplace can look and sound like, and things you can say or do to interrupt the harm if you see or hear it happening to someone else. The videos also explain what options are available to address workplace sexual harassment here in Prince Edward Island.
Joining forces and resources with la Société Acadienne et Francophone de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard (SAF'ÎLE ) Actions Femmes ÎPÉ, the videos were fully translated and are available on YouTube and from the SAF’Île Resources section on workplace harassment (Harcèlement au travail)
